Harriet Tubman
Born Araminta Harriet Ross, Feb.-Mar. 1822 – March 10, 1913. Abolitionist and Union spy during the American Civil War. Rescued more than 70 slaves using the Underground Railroad. In the post-war era she struggled for women’s suffrage. As a child she suffered a head wound causing seizures, headaches, and visionary dream activity, throughout her life.
