Artist's Description

Margaret Mead
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. December 16, 1901 – November 15, 1978. An American cultural anthropologist and scientist. She was frequently a featured writer and speaker in the mass media throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Her reports about the attitudes towards sex in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures helped to broaden sexual mores. She was interested in education, ecology, the women's movement, the bomb, and student uprisings.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
